SITC returns to Huanghai for boxship quartet

Chinese boxship player SITC International Holdings is continuing to build out its fleet, returning to compatriot yard Huanghai Shipbuilding for a series of four new 2,700 teu vessels.

The Hong Kong-listed carrier is spending nearly $153m on the newbuilds, which are scheduled for delivery from late 2027 through to mid-2028. The deal brings SITC’s current newbuild programme to 14 units.

Last year, SITC booked ten 1,800 teu vessels at Huanghai for delivery between 2026 and 2028. That earlier batch was priced at around $29m apiece.

Alphaliner data ranks the intra-Asia carrier as the 14th among global container shipping enterprises with a capacity of about 188,000 teu spread across 121 vessels, including 103 self-owned.
