Indonesian shipowner and logistics group Meratus is expanding its fleet with feeder newbuildings at one of its go-to yards in China.

The company has signed the newbuilds with CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering, a yard it has repeatedly tapped for similar tonnage. The new vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2027.

No pricing has been disclosed for the latest order, which follows a series of similar feeders delivered by Guangxi Shipbuilding, including the most recent additions, the Meratus Kumai and Meratus Kutai this year.

The ships built earlier are about 124 m long, classed by Italy’s RINA, and mainly sail in Indonesian waters and feeder routes such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, East Timor and Papua New Guinea.

Meratus was founded in 1957 by the Menaro family in Surabaya. The company, which operate a diversified fleet in multiple segments, expanded into container liner services in 1990 and now runs more than 45 trade routes.
