Brokers report that undisclosed Greek buyers have tabled $26.2m for Wisdom Marine’s 179,000 dwt Frontier Bonanza, a 2010-built capesize from Hyundai Heavy Industries.
According to VesselsValue, the ship is on a seven-year charter to Nippon Yusen Kaisha . The deal marks the first sale of a Korean-built cape since May.
Taiwanese owner Wisdom Marine has been busy on the disposal side this year, already offloading two Japanese handysizes: the modern 2021-built Bunun Orchid, sold to Harry Vafias for $24.5m, and the 2015-built Bunun Hero, which went to Turkish buyers. This latest sale sees Taiwan’s largest bulk carrier owner quit the cape sector.
In a regulatory filing, the Taipei-based company revealed it will pay $66m for a pair of 40,000 dwt units to be built at Saiki Heavy Industries, part of Onomichi Dockyard. Delivery dates for the latest handy duo have yet to be divulged.
