Soybean basis bids steady to down as futures firm

Spot basis bids for soybeans were steady to down at processors in a spot check of locations around the U.S. Midwest on Friday as futures rose.

The soybean basis rose at a processor in Lafayette, Indiana, but was otherwise unchanged in a spot check.

A corn processor in the Chicago area rolled its basis to the December contract, as did a river terminal in Morris, Illinois.

CBOT corn futures firmed on support from strong international demand, concerns over disease in the U.S. Midwest and technical support, analysts said.

Soybean futures chopped up and down but ended higher on technical trading on Friday, though a lack of Chinese demand for U.S. supplies hung over the oilseed market.
