TotalEnergies taps Shearwater for 3D survey off Sao Tome and Principe

Norwegian offshore seismic vessel player Shearwater Geoservices has been awarded a 3D marine seismic acquisition contract by French energy major TotalEnergies in Sao Tome & Principe.

The two-month exploration survey on the STP-02 Block off the coast of West Africa will commence early in the third quarter of 2025, utilising the SW Empress.

TotalEnergies entered the offshore exploration block in 2024 and operates the block on behalf of its partners, ANP-STP and Sonangol.

“This award marks the initiation of our extended collaboration with TotalEnergies, as it will be the first project after the recently announced seismic capacity agreement,” said Irene Waage Basili, Shearwater CEO.
