Platts clarifies boil-off rates used for LNG freight route cost calculations

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, wishes to clarify that the boil-off rate used for LNG freight route cost calculations is 0.04%.

As such, the methodology for LNG global freight route costs will now state:

This value is based on applying the relevant freight and ballast rate to a base price assessment (e.g., JKM), a boil-off rate of 0.085%/day while laden, a boil-off rate of 0.04% while in ballast and a boil-off rate of 25% of the laden rate while in port.

These freight cost assessments are published in Platts LNG daily and daily fixed pages LNG0600, LNG1600, NG1058.
