Singapore-headquartered offshore wind and gas transport service provider Purus has confirmed an order of a 180,000 cbm dual-fuel liquified natural gas carrier from Hyundai Heavy Industries and a long-term charter contract.

The company has placed an order for a 180,000 cbm LNGC from Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea. Upon delivery in the fourth quarter of 2027, the vessel will enter a long-term charter with a “leading energy company.”

No price was revealed, and the company didn’t disclose the name of the counterparty.

As it is reported, this latest order brings Purus’s current newbuilding program to a total of ten gas carriers under construction at Hyundai Group-affiliated shipyards.

Purus said the LNGC vessel will surpass EEDI Phase III requirements and incorporate performance-optimizing features, including a twin skeg highly optimized hull design.

It also said that the vessel – equipped with advanced dual-fuel propulsion and optimised to utilise natural gas boil-off as fuel – will be able to deliver up to a 25% reduction in CO₂ emissions and about 85% lower NOₓ emissions compared to conventional marine fuels.
