Vietnam gives go-ahead to 400MW offshore wind development

Vietnamese authorities have greenlit the development of the VND 17.05trn ($648m) Ky Anh offshore wind farm.

The project was granted a 50-year operational term from the date of receiving land and sea areas leased by the country.

The Ky Anh offshore wind project, located off the coast of Ha Tinh province, will have a designed capacity of up to 400MW, expected to generate approximately 1,053GWh of electricity annually.

The plant will be equipped with 47 wind turbines, each with a capacity ranging from 5 to 8.5MW. The connection plan includes a 66/500kV booster substation linked via a 500kV double-circuit transmission line to the national 500kV grid.

The entire project is slated for completion and commercial operation by the fourth quarter of 2028. According to the detailed schedule, administrative procedures will be finalised by the third quarter of 2026, and construction will start no later than the fourth quarter of 2026.
