Diana Shipping has managed to seal a long-delayed exit from an ultramax after a previous sale collapsed, while also locking in a higher-paying charter for one of its capesizes.

The New York-listed owner said the 2016-built 63,500 dwt DSI Drammen has been sold to an unrelated buyer for about $26.4m before commissions, with delivery due by end-March 2026. The vessel is held through a limited partnership in which Diana owns 25%, with Norwegian partner Ecobulk controlling the remaining 75%.

The deal replaces a failed agreement announced earlier this year, when a buyer walked away from a planned $26.86m purchase. Diana originally bought the scrubber-fitted bulker from Denmark’s Norden for nearly $28m before selling down most of its stake in early 2023.

In a separate move, Diana has fixed the 2011-built 179,362 dwt capesize Seattle to SwissMarine at a stronger rate. The ship will earn $24,500 per day, minus 5% in commissions, from November 26, 2025 through at least May 2027 and up to June 2027. The employment is expected to generate roughly $12.62m in gross revenue for the minimum period.

The Seattle had previously been on hire to Solebay Shipping at $17,500 per day.
