TS Lines locks in up to 10 newbuilds at Huangpu Wenchong

Taiwan’s TS Lines has bolstered its newbuilding programme through a new deal with a Chinese shipyard, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding

The intra-Asia focused carrier has commissioned five firm and five optional 5,000 teu vessels, each priced at about $62.5m and scheduled for delivery in 2028, according to shipbroking sources.

The Guangzhou-based yard has become a key supplier to TS Lines over the past several years. The carrier previously took delivery of both 1,900 teu and 2,700 teu ships from Huangpu Wenchong, and has two 4,300 teu newbuilds already on order at the yard for delivery in 2027.

Founded in 2001, the 20th largest liner by capacity operates around 40 ships in its fleet. The newbuild programme will see the company add up to 17 ships across multiple sizes over the next few years.
