Tallink Grupp has extended the charter deal for the company’s cruise ferry Silja Europa to Holland.

The company’s subsidiary Tallink Silja OY extended the charter agreement for the cruise ferry Silja Europa with Slaapschepen Public BV, an organisation nominated by Centraal Orgaan Opvang Asielzoekers (COA) in the Netherlands, until 2027.

The cruise vessel Silja Europa will be employed until 31 January 2027 with the option of extending the agreement for another year.

The cruise ferry has been chartered out since August 2022 and is used to provide temporary accommodation in the Netherlands.

At the beginning of this year, Shipping Telegraph reported that a new charter deal was reached between the parties for continuing the charter to Holland.

The deal was to charter out the cruise vessel for six months starting from January 1, 2025, with an option to extend the contract for another 7 + 6 + 6 months at the end of the agreement period.

The company’s former Tallinn-Helsinki route cruise vessel Silja Europa has been chartered to the Netherlands since August 2022, Tallink Grupp said, to provide temporary accommodation for asylum seekers.
