Iraq welcomes new direct shipping line linking Umm Qasr Port and Dubai

The state-owned General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) on Saturday welcomed the launch of a direct maritime service connecting Iraq’s Umm Qasr Port with Dubai’s Port Rashid.

Inaugurated by DP World on Friday using the roll-on/roll-off vessels, the service completes the journey in under 36 hours and can carry up to 145 trailers per trip.

GCPI said the new service will enhance the efficiency of regional supply chains, boost the competitiveness of Iraqi ports, and support bilateral trade with the UAE.

The company highlighted that the new route will also strengthen Iraq’s port capabilities and reduce dependence on land transport.
