Intra-Asia Container Index On the Rise

Drewry’s Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI), a weighted average of regional spot container freight rates, increased 6% in the fortnight to 15 Dec 2025 to $709 per 40ft container.

Drewry’s Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) increased 6% in the first half of December, reaching $709 per 40ft container. The IACI is a weighted average of spot rates across 18 major trade routes within Asia and is currently 24% lower YoY. Drewry expects Intra Asia freight rates to remain stable in the latter half of the month as Christmas demand fades, and then strengthen in January 2026 due to tighter capacity during an extended peak season.
