ESL Shipping has achieved a position in the top 2% of rated companies in the latest EcoVadis sustainability assessment, with an overall score and most of the theme results improving since 2024.
The overall score improved from 82 to 84, with the most significant increase recorded in Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. Despite the improvement, rising medal thresholds meant that the company received Gold instead of Platinum this year.
“We are pleased to see positive development in several areas, confirming that our efforts are delivering results. Our next goal is to identify further improvements and regain Platinum status in the upcoming assessment,” says Kirsi Ylärinne, Environment & Sustainability Director.
EcoVadis is the world’s largest provider of business sustainability ratings, with over 150,000 companies evaluated. The comprehensive assessment takes into account various factors, including the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, providing a holistic view of a company’s sustainability performance. EcoVadis’ methodology is based on international sustainability standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and ISO standards.
The Sustainability Scorecard illustrates performance across 21 indicators in four key themes.
