Russian overnight drone attacks damaged several foreign-flagged vessels at ports in southern Ukraine, Ukrainian authorities said, as strikes in the Black Sea region continue to intensify.

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba reported that the drones struck vessels flying the flags of Slovakia, Palau and Liberia while they were in ports located in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

The attacks caused damage to port-related infrastructure but did not result in any casualties.

In recent weeks, Russian forces have increased the frequency of attacks on the Odesa region. Ukrainian officials said that Moscow appears to be aiming to disrupt maritime access to the Black Sea and create instability for civilians living in the area.

Kuleba stated that the latest strikes led to power outages in parts of the Odesa region and damaged elevators and civilian warehouses. He added that the attacks affected both port and land-based infrastructure linked to logistics operations.

Separately, drones also damaged a locomotive and a freight wagon at the Kovel railway station in north-western Ukraine, around 60 kilometres from the Polish border. The incident caused infrastructure damage but no injuries were reported.

Despite the damage, Ukrainian authorities said the country’s logistics system continues to operate. Kuleba indicated that transport and supply chains remain functional despite the ongoing attacks.
