Wan Hai Lines Holds Naming Ceremony for 7,000teu Newbuilding “WAN HAI 711” Accompanied by a Charity Donation

Wan Hai Lines held ship naming ceremony for “WAN HAI 711” and accompanied by a charity event today (January 30) at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Ms. Ivy Tang, spouse of Mr. Hua Chen-Zuo, Chairman of Zhejiang Hengshuo Industrial Co., Ltd., performed the christening rituals, bestowing blessings on the vessel for good fortune and safe journeys.

“WAN HAI 711” is the first vessel of two 7,000 TEU series containerships built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in early February and will be deployed on Wan Hai Lines’ Far East-Mediterranean Service 1. This series of vessels has an overall length of 272 meters, a breadth of 42.8 meters, and a maximum draft of 15 meters, and is equipped with new engines and various eco-friendly, energy-saving designs including the integrated application of a bow wind deflector and a stern energy-saving device. These new designs effectively reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, meeting both energy-efficiency and long-term operational requirements, and demonstrating Wan Hai Lines’ commitment to environmental protection and sustainable operations.

Wan Hai Lines continues to expand its fleet. Over the past five years, the total number of vessels has increased from 92 to 124, while overall capacity has grown from 290,000 TEU to approximately 600,000 TEU. Following the delivery of “WAN HAI 711”, Wan Hai Lines will have a total of 35 newbuild vessels scheduled for delivery under its ongoing fleet expansion program. As fleet scale and capacity continue to increase, the company will further enhance route coverage and slot deployment flexibility, helping to improve schedule reliability and transportation stability, provide more comprehensive and higher-quality shipping services to customers.

Wan Hai Lines extends its sincere appreciation to Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. for its dedicated efforts. As part of its commitment to giving back, the company has donated needed supplies to the Shanghai local charity organization – Shanghai QingCongquan Training Center for Children with Autism. This gesture aims to benefit the local community, underlining Wan Hai Lines’ motto, “We carry, we care”. Wan Hai Lines remains committed not only to providing dedicated shipping services to customers, but also to giving back to local communities and supporting those in need through concrete actions to fulfill its corporate social responsibility.
