Dutch surveyor Fugro has won a contract to carry out a geotechnical campaign on TotalEnergies’ NordSee Energies 1 offshore wind farm, 170 km off Germany.
The surveys will provide insights into seabed conditions at planned wind turbine locations and inter-array cable routes.
Fieldwork is already underway, with Fugro mobilising a fleet of five specialist vessels across an area of around 200 sq m.
“With a five‑vessel programme, this is one of the largest offshore wind investigations we’ve undertaken in Europe,” said Remmelt de Jong, Fugro’s regional business line director for marine site characterisation in Europe and Africa.
NSE 1 slots into TotalEnergies’ 7.5 GW German offshore portfolio, awarded 2023–2025, boosting the country’s North Sea push. With a planned capacity of 2 GW, the wind farm is expected to make a significant contribution to Germany’s offshore expansion in the North Sea and strengthen Europe’s long-term energy security and decarbonisation efforts.
