Drewry: The World Container Index increased 3% this week 10-2026 | Freight news

In accordance with the assessment of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the container rates this week returned to an increasing tendency. As it is mentioned, their composite World Container Index increased by 3% to $1,958 per 40-foot container.

Freight rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam decreased by 2% or $42 to $2,052, and Rotterdam to Shanghai remained unchanged at $543 per 40-foot container.

The rates from Shanghai to Genoa increased by 1% or $18 to $2,844, while Shanghai to Los Angeles increased by 10% or $211 to $2,402. As it is also reported, those on Shanghai to New York increased by 7% or $206 to $2,977 per 40-foot container.

Meanwhile, the rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai remained unchanged at $724, and Rotterdam to New York decreased by 2% or $32 to $1,570 per FEU. Furthermore, the freight from New York to Rotterdam this week increased by 1% or $6 to $958 per 40-foot container.
