Spirit Energy, an energy company with two shareholders consisting of Centrica (69%) and Stadtwerke München GmbH (31%), has hired AG Consultancy and Apps (AG), an independent SAP consultancy, on a long-term assignment to support its assets in the North Sea.
The five-year contract, won through a competitive tender process, will enable AG to provide the North Sea operator with SAP solutions to enhance its operational efficiency and business performance. The firm will continue to support the energy player with SAP application management services (AMS), having first secured the contract for this job in 2022, and SAP business support services.
Francis Rajan, AG’s Co-founder and Managing Director, highlighted: “Our extensive experience in supporting clients and projects in the oil and gas sector allows us to deliver greater system stability, faster issue resolution and continuous optimisation across the North Sea and beyond.
“Our relationship with Spirit Energy goes from strength to strength and we are proud that our colleagues have placed their continued faith in us to support on their SAP function following a robust and competitive tender process.”
The multi-year AMS contract, with options for three one-year extensions, is perceived to solidify a long-standing partnership, positioning the company as the go-to partner for Spirit Energy’s end-to-end digital transformation journey. The firm claims that its fixed-price model for SAP offers clients cost certainty, reduced risk, and stronger alignment with business outcomes.
The contract follows AG’s delivery of a critical project in 2025: the four-month migration of the North Sea firm’s infrastructure from on-premises S/4HANA to SAP Cloud ERP Private Edition to transfer its data to the cloud, enabling long-term benefits from AI and automation.
Thanks to the latest deal, the company will continue to provide Spirit Energy with AMS, work management business support, process support services, and a strategic roadmap to optimise asset operations.
Rajan continued: “As a trusted digital partner with clients around the world, we understand the business processes, challenges and pain points that our clients can encounter on their SAP journey and implement a structured methodology that ensures all activities are delivered seamlessly.”
AG and Spirit Energy will co-author a long-term transformation roadmap designed to turn technological investment into a competitive advantage to deliver measurable value by leveraging advanced analytics (SAC) and modern user experiences (Fiori) to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
The collaboration also looks into the future potential of Generative AI, including SAP’s AI assistant Joule, to create a more dynamic and sustainable landscape. The deal with AG comes months after Serica Energy announced its plans to buy the oil and gas portfolio of Spirit Energy and its affiliates for £57 million (around $74 million).
