Bristow Norway, a subsidiary of the offshore aviation services provider Bristow Group, has secured a multimillion-dollar assignment on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) for two helicopters with Norway’s state-owned energy giant Equinor.
Bristow Norway’s contract for helicopter services with Equinor in Bergen covers two S‑92 helicopters that will provide offshore transport services from Flesland Airport. The deal will begin on May 1, 2026, with a duration of one year and options for extension for a further two one‑year periods.
The estimated contract value is approximately NOK 1.1 billion (around $114.84 million). The Norwegian energy giant operates around 5,000 helicopter flights per year from Bergen Airport, Flesland. Bristow currently has an agreement with Equinor for five helicopters in Bergen, which expires on April 30, 2026.
Under the new contract, two of the existing helicopters will continue their work. Three operators with a total of seven helicopters will provide offshore transport services from Bergen Airport from May 1, as two more players start their flight assignments.
Aside from Bristow Norway, the operators providing offshore transport services for Equinor from Bergen Airport are CHC Helicopter Service with three Sikorsky S‑92 helicopters and Lufttransport RW with two AW139 that will be replaced by AW189 in 2027.
Mette Ottøy, Senior Vice President of Joint Operations Support at Equinor, commented: “This is an important agreement that strengthens our helicopter capacity. We have already entered into agreements with CHC and Lufttransport in Bergen and this gives us solid capacity at our largest helicopter base.”
The fields served from Bergen Airport are the Troll field, encompassing Troll A, B, and C; Gullfaks, entailing Gullfaks A, B, and C; Statfjord, including Statfjord A, B, and C; Oseberg, encapsulating Oseberg A, B, and D; Martin Linge; and Kvitebjørn/Valemon.
Recently, Bristow won another assignment with Equinor and Vår Energi for helicopter transportation and search and rescue (SAR) services in the Barents Sea.
