Diana secures improved kamsarmax earnings with NYK

Greek owner Diana Shipping has secured an improved rate for one of its kamsarmax bulkers, extending the deal with Japan’s NYK.

The New York-listed company said the 2013-built, 82,131 dwt Myrto will continue on charter at a $16,650 per day, minus a 5% commission, with the new period running from April 7, 2026 through to between September 20 and November 20, 2027.

The fresh fixture marks a step up from the ship’s current earnings of $12,000 per day, agreed in late 2024.

Diana said it expects the fixture to bring in around $8.7m in revenue over the minimum contracted period.

The extension is the latest in a string of period fixtures for the owner, which has now reported six deals so far this year. It follows a similar move with the panamax Crystalia, where Diana locked in a higher rate of $16,200 per day with SwissMarine, replacing an earlier fixture at $13,900 per day.
