Altius and Progeco open a new cold storage warehouse in the Port of Bilbao

Progeco has opened a new cold storage warehouse for frozen goods in the ZAD-3 area of the Port of Bilbao. The facility features a 300 m² antechamber for receiving, palletising and dispatching goods, and a 550 m² storage area with shelving capable of holding 1,100 pallets. The main goods it is expected to handle are frozen fish, seafood and meat.

Progeco will take charge of warehouse operations, whilst Altius, part of the Davila Group, will handle marketing. Investment in this new facility amounts to approximately 1.2 million euros, with a second phase to follow.

The opening ceremony was attended by Eduardo Davila, president of the Davila Group; Pablo Bilbao, president of Progeco; Jimmy Jaber, president of Uniport; and Ivan Jimenez, president of the Bilbao Port Authority.

Progeco has had a positive cold storage facility at the Port of Bilbao since 2011. The company has gradually expanded its storage space, increasing from 500 m² to the current 8,000 m² of positive cold storage thanks to this new freezer warehouse.
