Baltic Dry Index climbs to 2001 up 12 points

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, declined for a fourth session on Tuesday, dropping about 2.4% to its lowest since March 12 at 1,989 points.
The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, was down for a second day, slumping 3.2% to 2,844 points; and the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 2.6% to 1,839 points.
Among smaller vessels, the supramax index decreased 0.3% to 1,215 points.
