World Steel Association: February 2026 crude steel production Down 2.2%

World crude steel production for the 69 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 141.8 million tonnes (Mt) in February 2026, a 2.2% decrease compared to February 2025.

Crude steel production by region

Africa produced 2.0 Mt in February 2026, up 4.7% on February 2025. Asia and Oceania produced 105.3 Mt, down 1.9%. The EU (27) produced 9.8 Mt, down 3.6%. Europe, Other produced 3.4 Mt, up 3.1%. The Middle East produced 3.7 Mt, up 0.1%. North America produced 8.5 Mt, up 0.5%. Russia & other CIS + Ukraine produced 6.0 Mt, down 10.5%. South America produced 3.1 Mt, down 7.7%.

The 69 countries included in this table accounted for approximately 98% of total world crude steel production in 2025.

Top 10 steel-producing countries

China is estimated to have produced 76.1 Mt in February 2026, down 3.6% on February 2025. India produced 13.6 Mt, up 7.7%. The United States produced 6.5 Mt, up 5.8%. Japan produced 6.4 Mt, the same as in February 2025. Russia is estimated to have produced 5.0 Mt, down 10.2%. South Korea produced 4.8 Mt, up 0.2%. Türkiye produced 3.0 Mt, up 3.4%. Germany produced 2.8 Mt, up 4.8%. Brazil produced 2.5 Mt, down 5.7%. Iran is estimated to have produced 1.7 Mt, down 1.3%.
