Asia’s SITC exercises options for six container ships at Yangzijiang | Container news

Hong Kong-headquartered SITC International Holdings Company Limited, an Asian shipping logistics company, said SITC Shipowning exercised on March 26 the options for the construction of six additional vessels under the shipbuilding option contracts with the shipbuilders Jiangsu Yangzi Hongyuan Shipbuilding and Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding at an aggregate consideration of US$136.8m.

To remind, SITC Shipowning and the shipbuilders entered on December 26, 2025, into the shipbuilding contracts.

Collectively, the four agreements are all dated 26 December 2025 between the company and the shipbuilders in relation to the construction of an aggregate of four vessels.

In addition, the shipbuilders have granted to SITC Shipowning the options for the construction of a total of six additional vessels (each container vessel will be 1,100 teu).

SITC Shipowning exercised last week the options under the shipbuilding option contracts with the shipbuilders for the construction of six additional vessels.

The consideration for each of the vessels is US$22.8m, with deliveries scheduled between the end of March and late August 2028.

The company said the construction of the vessels will enable the Group to expand its self-owned fleet of container vessels to meet the increase in demand for the Group’s operational requirements.

SITC Shipowning is a limited liability company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company. SITC Shipowning is principally engaged in the business of vessel holding.

The two shipbuilders are ultimately wholly-owned by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, according to SITC International Holdings Company Limited announcement.
