Thompson Shipping Group expands fleet with handysize purchase | Shipsale news

The Fremantle (Western Australia)-based Thompson Shipping Group has expanded its dry bulk fleet through its subsidiary, Thompson Shipping Lines.

This latest acquisition is a Japanese-built 35,947-dwt handysize bulk carrier, which is to be renamed TSL Lusaha.

Australia’s dry bulk shipowner remains confident in the outlook for the dry bulk sector and believes that this purchase further strengthens the Group’s presence in the global dry bulk market.

“This milestone positions Thompson Shipping Lines as the leading privately owned dry bulk ship owner in Australia,” the company wrote in a post on social media.

The history of the Thompson Shipping Group of Companies dates back to 1998 when its founding owner and chairman, Craig Thompson, first established Sea Corporation Pty Ltd (Seacorp) as a shipping agent and shipbroker to service the increasing requirements of bulk commodity exporters in Western Australia.

Thompson Shipping Group’s suite of shipping services today is offered through wholly owned subsidiaries which encompasses vessel ownership, vessel operating, ship agency, marine surveys, outturn management and trade facilitation.
