Hong Glory Bulk sets course for Atlantic growth with Athens office opening

Hong Glory Bulk, owned by Singapore-headquartered Rongtua Shipping Group, has opened a new office in Athens, marking a strategic move to strengthen the group’s commercial presence across the Atlantic basin.

The opening reception at the office in Marousi was attended by approximately 35 guests, including shipowners, charterers, key brokers, and group leadership from headquarters. In keeping with the group’s ties to both Chinese and Greek maritime traditions, the celebration featured a pomegranate smashing – a classic Greek ritual symbolising abundance and good fortune.

David Deng, CEO of Rongtua Shipping Group, said: ”This office in Athens is not just a new address. It is our commitment to the Atlantic region—a market we know well and strongly believe in. From here, we will serve our partners across Europe, the Americas, and Africa with greater focus.”

Rongtua’s international dry bulk operations have been established since 2009. The fleet has expanded rapidly in recent years to over 120 ships, including 41 owned vessels, more than 80 long-term chartered supramax, ultramax, handysize and multi-purpose vessels. Annual cargo volume has continued to increase steadily, reaching over 50m tonnes in 2025.

Hong Glory Bulk was founded in mid-2024. The initial team was formed by Lan Wu (ex-Oldendorff), Alex Haubert (ex-Amaggi), and Matt Rudge (ex-GMI, BRS), with the aim of complementing Hong Glory’s existing platforms in Shanghai and Singapore.
