Singapore-based Norse Shipholding has placed firm orders for four 1,800 teu container vessels at China’s Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group, as it looks to expand its feeder fleet.
The deal also includes options for two additional ships of the bangkokmax type, giving the owner flexibility to grow the series further.
Market sources indicate construction will be split between Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding and Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding, with each yard set to build two vessels in the initial batch.
The ships are expected to follow a standard SDARI design, with conventional propulsion and specifications typical for the bangkokmax segment. Pricing has not been disclosed, but Alphaliner noted that vessels of this size are currently estimated at around $31m to $33m, with deliveries likely in 2028 and 2029.
Established in March 2016, Norse Shipholding operates as a non-operating owner focused on smaller container tonnage, with its fleet currently comprising one 1,800 teu unit and several vessels in the 1,000–1,200 teu range. The ships are chartered out to liner operators including ONE, Milaha and CMA CGM.
