Geneva broker Lightship reshuffles top team

Geneva-based broker Lightship is reshuffling its top team as it looks to support the next phase of growth in the dry bulk market.

The company has promoted long-time chief executive Sune Fladberg to vice chairman of the executive board, shifting his focus toward longer-term strategy and business development.

At the same time, Lightship has brought in industry veteran Mark Roberts as chief executive of its chartering arm, handing him day-to-day leadership of the business.

The board will now be led by chairman Morten Have, with Mads Have and Fladberg serving as vice chairs, as the broker looks to tighten governance while continuing to expand.

Fladberg is expected to take a lead role on major projects and strategic initiatives, stepping back from operational duties after helping build Lightship’s position in the dry bulk space.

Roberts joins with more than 20 years of experience across shipbroking, operations and maritime technology. He was most recently group COO and executive director at SPI Marine, and previously spent six years on the main board at Clarksons. He started his career in financial markets at Bloomberg and has also founded maritime tech ventures focused on commercial decision-making.

The move comes as Lightship looks to scale further, with plans to add three external board members during 2026 to broaden oversight and bring in additional industry perspective, the company said.
