MR Group’s ModuSpec, a rig and well control equipment specialist, has secured multiple shipyard rig intake projects, supporting drillship and jack-up readiness for deployment across Europe and Africa.
ModuSpec’s new batch of shipyard-based rig intake and inspection projects, which are valued at around £450,000 (around $609,480), supporting both existing and new clients, include work on two drillships and two jack-up rigs scheduled for work across Europe and Africa.
The company explains that a multi-disciplinary team is slated to attend Las Palmas shipyard to verify the readiness of a new generation deepwater drillship ahead of development drilling operations offshore the Ivory Coast, planned for Q3 2026.
The scope of work will entail a multi-disciplinary team assessing the readiness and robustness of the rig equipment alongside the assessment of the contractor management systems, including health, safety, and environmental (HSE) factors and crew competency.

ModuSpec is currently mobilizing to support shipyard activities in Las Palmas for the second drillship, where the team will verify the readiness of two blowout preventers (BOPs) and associated well control equipment.
Afterward, the drillship will transit offshore Egypt, where the company will witness the pre-deployment, deployment, and post-deployment testing in advance of a five-well drilling campaign. A team is preparing to mobilize to Croatia to begin a multi-stage rig intake program for a conventional design jack-up, which has been idle for a prolonged period.
As the scope will include completing a maintenance period before mobilization in Q2, the jack-up is currently going through its five-yearly special periodic survey (SPS) and preparation ahead of drilling operations in the Adriatic Sea.
In addition, ModuSpec has been awarded a scope to manage the intake of a jack-up due to drill development wells from a platform offshore Gabon. The rig is currently going through its SPS in Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo.
The rig and well control equipment specialist will verify the readiness of major equipment systems, encompassing drilling, mud, well control, electrical, and marine, as well as witnessing an acceptance test program.
