The repair and conversion described as “major” were performed at Vard Langsten and included a remotely operated vehicle (ROV)/LARS upgrade with installation of a new Ulmatec system and electrical integration, a main engine overhaul performed by Wärtsilä with VARD support, and full surface treatment with repainting in DOF’s colours.

Repair and maintenance work was also carried out across interior areas, piping, and electrical systems, including further upgrades identified during the yard stay.

According to VARD, key challenges included delivering a complex, multidisciplinary scope within 8–10 weeks, coordinating parallel activities across several disciplines, and integrating new systems while ensuring operational reliability.

“This project was a very good fit for us, and a project we are well suited to deliver. It allowed us to utilize our multidisciplinary competence and deliver efficiently within a tight timeframe,” said Odd Henrik Iversen, Yard Director at Vard Langsten.

The 95-meter-long Skandi Minder is of Salt Ship Design 200 and can accommodate 52 persons.
