Hainan Yuzhou Shipping books deck carrier newbuild

Chinese shipowner Hainan Yuzhou International Shipping is expanding its fleet of specialised cargo carriers through a newbuilding deal at a domestic yard.

The company has ordered a new 12,000 dwt heavylift deck carrier at Yihai Heavy Industry – a Yangzhou yard that has delivered various specialised ships for Chinese operators in recent years.

The 150-m-long newbuild is scheduled for delivery in November 2026. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Hainan Yuzhou Shipping is currently listed with two heavylift cargo vessels, including the 2023 Wuhu Xinlian-built 22,800 dwt Zhe Shan.

The company last made headlines in November 2024 when it sold its 22,500 dwt Yu Zhou Shi Jia (pictured)—a 2024-built unit from Jiangsu Jiuzhou Shipbuilding—to Denmark’s Rohde Nielsen, which now operates the vessel under the name Odin R.
