A Panama‑flagged container vessel en route from Port Klang to Chattogram sank off Phuket over the weekend after developing a sudden, severe list.
The Sealloyd Arc’s master issued an abandon‑ship call at about 15:00 local time on Saturday; Thai authorities and nearby craft evacuated all 16 Bangladeshi crew by 15:50 and later confirmed they were safe, staying in Phuket and receiving assistance.
Local reports suggest the Sealloyd Arc, carrying around 200 containers, then sank on Sunday with aerial surveys suggesting there was a small oil spill.
The accident investigation is ongoing.
