Busy Erasmus buys feeder boxship

Erasmus Shipinvest Group is continuing its buying spree, with new moves in the container segment.

Brokers link the Athens-based owner to the 1,050 teu Asiatic Sun (built 2008), which is reportedly being sold to the John Su-led firm on private terms. If confirmed, it would be the company’s fifth feeder acquisition in under a year, underscoring its growing focus on smaller tonnage in the boxship segment.

Last week’s Splash revealed that Erasmus had added the Frontier Bonanza, a 179,000 dwt capesize, built in 2010 at Hyundai Heavy Industries.

In a parallel deal, Erasmus has also emerged with another private deal with the seller of this cape, Wisdom Marine, picking up the six-year-old, 14,000 dwt geared handysize bulker Ocean Benefit (ex-Saysiat Benefit. No price has been attached to this deal.

The diversified Erasmus Shipinvest Group outfit has now pushed its 2025 sales and purchasing tally into double digits, according to VesselsValue, listing 10 units in and seven out, cementing Erasmus’s rank as one of the most active mid-sized players in the market.
