Drewry: The World Container Index decreased 5% this week 28-2025 | Freight news

In accordance with the assessment of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the container rates this week continued their decreasing tendency. As it is mentioned, their composite World Container Index decreased by 5% to $2,672 per 40-foot container.

Freight rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam decreased 2% or $84 to $3,384, and Rotterdam to Shanghai remain stable at $487 per 40-foot container.

Also, the rates from New York to Rotterdam remain stable at $866 per FEU, but opposite way Rotterdam to New York decreased 6% or $129 to $1,990 per FEU.

The rates from Shanghai to Genoa decreased by 7% or $260 to $3,491, while Shanghai to Los Angeles decreased by 8% or $249 to $2,931, and Shanghai to New York falls 5% or $231 to $4,839  per 40-foot container.

Finally, the rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai increased 1% or $9 to $723 per FEU.
