Drewry: The World Container Index decreased 8% this week 39-2025 | Freight news

In accordance with the assessment of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the container rates this week continued their further weekly decreasing tendency. As it is mentioned, their composite World Container Index decreased by 8% to $1,761 per 40-foot container.

Freight rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam decreased by 9% or $175 to $1,735, and Rotterdam to Shanghai increased by 1% or $4 to $461 per 40-foot container.

The rates from Shanghai to Genoa decreased by 7% or $141 to $1,990, while Shanghai to Los Angeles decreased by 10% or $250 to $2,311. As it is reported, those on Shanghai to New York also slid 8% or $293 to $3,278 per 40-foot container.

Finally, the rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai decreased by 1% or $5 to $716 and Rotterdam to New York decreased by 6% or $107 to $1,819 per FEU, while the freight from New York to Rotterdam this week decreased by 1% or $5 to $842 per 40-foot container.
