Taiwanese logistics group TVL Marine is set to enter the container shipping sector next month with the launch of a new Hong Kong-Taiwan feeder service, joining a growing wave of regional operators expanding into liner trades.
The company will deploy a vessel of around 1,000 teu on a weekly loop linking Hong Kong with Keelung, Taichung and Kaohsiung. Operations are scheduled to begin in June.
The move marks a strategic diversification for TVL Marine, whose roots trace back to Taiwan-based freight forwarding and shipmanagement activities dating back to the early 1970s. The group has also recently established a Hong Kong office to support the new liner operation.
TVL Marine said the service would offer regular weekly sailings designed to strengthen intra-Asia connectivity and support regional cargo flows between Hong Kong and Taiwan.
