Baltic Dry Index Down for 3rd Day

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, declined for a third session on Wednesday, dropping nearly 3% to its lowest since July last year at 1,776 points, mainly pressured by the bigger-size segment.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, extended losses for the tenth day, slipping 4.6% to 2,878 points; and the supramax index fell 18 points to 993 points.
