Baltic Dry Index climbs to 2100 up 17 points

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, rose about 0.8% to the highest since February 2nd to 2,100 points on Monday, driven by gains across all segments.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, went up 0.9% to 3,209 points; and the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased 0.5% to 1,785 points.
Among smaller vessels, the supramax index rose 1% to 1,198 points.
