China’s Agricore adds cape from Primebulk

Chinese dry bulk heavyweight Agricore is listed as buyer of the 178,100 dwt Cape Aqua (built 2009, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding), confirming reports from last week that Primebulk had offloaded the vessel for around $25.5m to undisclosed Chinese interests.

The deal marks Agricore’s second reported S&P move of 2025, following its sale in June of a 2011-built kamsarmax from Tsuneishi Zhoushan.

Founded in 2016, Agricore has swiftly built a strong footprint in China’s dry bulk sector, with a particular focus on the capesize segment. The company currently lists eight capesizes in operation and a handful of panamaxes on its website.

Fleet data from VesselsValue shows that Agricore has sold 14 vessels and acquired 17 in recent years, while maintaining an active newbuilding programme of eight bulkers on order at Chinese yards, ranging from ultramax to newcastlemax, all slated for delivery next year.
