NASCO returns to China Merchants yard for ultramax brace

Chinese bulker owner Nanjing Ocean Shipping Co (NASCO) has signed a contract for two ultramax bulk carriers at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) as it continues to expand its fleet.

The 63,500 dwt newbuilds are scheduled for delivery in 2027. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

The order marks another round of business between the two companies. NASCO previously contracted four vessels at the Nanjing-based yard, with three of those ships already delivered.

The latest pair will be built to meet IMO Phase III efficiency requirements and comply with the latest international rules and regulations covering vessel performance and environmental standards.

NASCO owns a fleet of around 20 bulk carriers, most of them in the supramax segment.
