Navibulgar steps up with new bulker order at Yangzijiang

Bulgarian shipowner Navibulgar has returned to Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for another round of bulk carrier newbuildings, contracting four geared vessels for delivery between 2028 and 2029.

Shipbuilding sources place the 71,000 dwt units at around $33.3m each, marking the company’s largest newbuilding commitment to date. The first three ships are expected to be delivered in 2028, followed by one more the following year.

The order continues Navibulgar’s long partnership with the Singapore-listed Chinese yard, where it already has a series of 32,000 dwt and 45,000 dwt bulkers under construction with deliveries due through 2026 and 2027.

Founded in 1892 and based in Varna, Navibulgar operates a diversified fleet of over 45 vessels trading across the Black Sea, Mediterranean, and Atlantic markets. The company is best known for its handysize and handymax bulkers between 22,000 and 48,000 dwt, serving regional and short-sea trades.
