Danish shipowner and operator Norden has sold two vessels from its owned fleet, continuing to cash in on strong asset values across both the dry bulk and tanker markets.
The Copenhagen-listed company confirmed the disposal of one MR tanker and one capesize bulker, citing favourable market conditions that have lifted secondhand prices in recent months.
At the same time, Norden is pressing ahead with its push into project cargo. The company has added two multipurpose (MPP) newbuilding leases with purchase options, with delivery scheduled for 2028. Norden said the MPP segment is supported by a tight supply picture, with an ageing global fleet and a low orderbook, alongside solid demand for project and specialised cargoes. The incoming vessels are expected to bolster its offering for breakbulk and project cargo, while retaining the flexibility to carry conventional dry bulk cargoes.
The latest moves build on an active year for the owner in the S&P and leasing markets. Norden sold more than 20 vessels in 2025, taking advantage of strong prices, while also entering into over 20 new lease agreements with purchase options. Around half of those leases were for multipurpose ships, underlining Norden’s strategy to grow its footprint in the project cargo space.
