Henning Oldendorff-led Oldendorff Carriers has joined the sales wagon, with sources telling Splash the German owner has offloaded two post-panamax units. The 115,000 dwt Pia Oldendorff (built 2013 at New Century) has been sold for around $19m, while the slightly older Peter Oldendorff (built 2012 at the same yard) changed hands for about $18m. These are the first ships sold by the German mammoth this year.
The family-owned post-panamax specialist has been a frequent fixture in global sale and purchase statistics in recent years, disposing of roughly a vessel per month in 2025, with the tally almost doubling the year before.
Data compiled by VesselsValue show that Oldendorff has sold 176 ships over time and currently has 76 owned vessels on the water, with a steadily younger fleet profile.
Its average fleet age now stands at around nine years, with most tonnage in the post-panamax segment.
Tracing its roots back to 1921, Oldendorff Carriers has grown into one of the world’s leading dry bulk owners and operators, with a number of senior staff due to attend this year’s Geneva Dry, the world’s premier commodities shipping conference.
