Safe Bulkers offloads Chinese capesize at ‘competitive price’ | Dry bulk shipping news

The New York stock-listed drybulk owner Safe Bulkers has sealed a deal to offload a Chinese-built bulker vessel.

The Polys Hajioannou-led company said the company is selling Michalis H, a 2012 Chinese-built, capesize class, dry-bulk vessel, at a gross sale price of $35.2m.

The forward delivery date is scheduled within the first quarter of 2026.

Dr. Loukas Barmparis, president of Safe Bulkers, commented: “In the context of our renewal strategy we sold the MV Michalis H at what we consider an optimal timing in the cycle and at a competitive price. At present, the orderbook of the company consists of eight vessels from now until 2029.’’

The company has an outstanding orderbook of eight newbuild vessels, two of which are methanol dual fuel, with scheduled deliveries four in 2026, two in 2027, one in 2028 and one in 2029.
