
China’s imports of unwrought aluminium and products in August increased by 12.9% from the year before, customs data showed on Thursday.
The world’s top consumer of the light metal imported 320,000 metric tons of unwrought aluminium and products last month, data from the General Administration of Customs showed.
The data includes primary metal and unwrought, alloyed aluminium.
In the first eight months of 2025, China imported a total of 2.65 million tons of unwrought aluminium and products, a 2.7% increase from the corresponding period in 2024.
Imports of bauxite, key raw material for aluminium, also saw an 18.2% rise from the previous year to 18.29 million tons in August.
The August data brought the total bauxite imports from January to August to 141.5 million tons, up by 31.4% year on year.
