Corn basis, soybean basis steady to lower

Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were flat to down at elevators, processors and river terminals at locations around the U.S. Midwest in a spot check on Monday.

  • The corn basis fell at an elevator in Council Bluffs, Iowa, a processor in Lafayette, Indiana, and a river terminal in Morris, Illinois.
  • The soybean basis fell at an elevator in Des Moines, Iowa, and a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa.
  • Soybean futures rose on Monday in a short-covering bounce from four-month lows as the U.S. crop enters its critical reproductive stage of development.
  • Corn futures eased and several contracts posted fresh lifetime lows as favorable U.S. crop weather reinforced expectations for a bumper harvest this autumn.
  • CBOT December corn (CZ25) closed 3-3/4 cents lower at $4.07 a bushel.
  • CBOT November soybeans (SX25) ended up 5-1/4 cents at $9.94-1/2 a bushel
