Drewry: The World Container Index decreased 4% this week 03-2026 | Freight news

In accordance with the assessment of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the container rates this week returned back to a decreasing tendency. As it is mentioned, their composite World Container Index decreased by 4% to $2,445 per 40-foot container.

Freight rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam decreased by 3% or $77 to $2,763, and Rotterdam to Shanghai increased by 2% or $9 to $513 per 40-foot container.

The rates from Shanghai to Genoa decreased by 1% or $46 to $3,839, while Shanghai to Los Angeles decreased by 7% or $223 to $2909. As it is also reported, those on Shanghai to New York decreased by 10% or $389 to $3,568 per 40-foot container.

Meanwhile, the rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai increased by 2% or $11 to $732 and Rotterdam to New York decreased by 3% or $51 to $1,634 per FEU. Furthermore, the freight from New York to Rotterdam this week increased by 2% or $23 to $989 per 40-foot container.
