Drewry: The World Container Index decreased 5% this week 05-2026 | Freight news

In accordance with the assessment of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the container rates this week again continued the decreasing tendency. As it is mentioned, their composite World Container Index decreased by 5% to $2,107 per 40-foot container.

Freight rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam decreased by 5% or $131 to $2,379, and Rotterdam to Shanghai remained stable at $504 per 40-foot container.

The rates from Shanghai to Genoa decreased by 6% or $227 to $3,293, while Shanghai to Los Angeles decreased by 4% or $104 to $2,442. As it is also reported, those on Shanghai to New York decreased by 7% or $222 to $2,969 per 40-foot container.

Meanwhile, the rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai increased by 2% or $16 to $721 and Rotterdam to New York increased by 2% or $35 to $1,605 per FEU. Furthermore, the freight from New York to Rotterdam this week increased by 1% or $5 to $988 per 40-foot container.
