Drone attack disrupts Salalah port operations

Port operations and bunkering at the Omani port of Salalah were suspended after a drone attack struck the port yesterday.

Several drones reportedly hit fuel storage tanks at the port, while others were intercepted and shot down. No human casualties have been reported, according to the state-backed Oman News Agency.

“We [are] evaluating the situation continuously and further updates regarding the resumption of operations will be communicated as soon as they become available,” Port of Salalah authorities said in statement.

A market source indicated that disruptions may remain limited.

“However, it is likely that only additional security measures or temporary delays may occur,” the source said.

“Some terminal operations were temporarily paused while authorities assess the situation, but we expect further updates soon regarding the resumption of normal operations,” the source added.

Drone incidents have been reported in both Duqm and Salalah over the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, operations at Port of Mina al Fahal were also disrupted, with the port closed for unberthing and loading operations this morning, according to GAC Hot Port News.
